Mercedes-Benz has a rich and extensive heritage in Malaysia. Early in the 20th century when car ownership was considered elitist, the then Sultan of Johor of Malaysia brought in his first Mercedes-Benz to Malaysia. Since then, Malaysians started its love affair with the luxurious car brand.

In the year 2003, a joint venture company DaimlerChrysler Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. was formed in Malaysia to manage the wholesale distribution of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, commercial vehicles and spare parts, as well as additional services in the field of software development for global sales solutions and automotive apprentice training. Since 2004, DaimlerChrysler Malaysia expanded its brand portfolio to include the wholesale distribution of smart passenger cars, Maybach passenger cars and Mitsubishi Fuso Commercial Vehicles.

DaimlerChrysler Malaysia has around around 250 employees who share the mission and passion of DaimlerChrysler AG.  Its headquarters is located at Menara TM at the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
DCM has also expanded their operations to include the:

  • Joint assembly operation in Pekan, Kuantan
  •  Apprentice Training Centre and Vehicle Preparation Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor
  • Automotive Spare Parts Warehouse in Shah Alam, Selangor

Today, Mercedes-Benz C, E and S-Class are locally assembled adhering to the same high quality expected of the marque globally. DaimlerChrysler Malaysia also manufactures commercial vehicles, which consist of Mercedes-Benz bus chassis, prime movers such as Actros trucks as well as Mitsubishi Fuso commercial vehicles. The strategic partnership for a joint assembly operation with DRB-HICOM, the single largest integrated automotive company in Malaysia, has resulted in DaimlerChrysler Malaysia’s investment of more than RM100 million to set up the new benchmark consolidated assembly facility, which is the number one assembly location in Malaysia aimed to produce vehicles of the highest quality.

Now, DaimlerChrysler Malaysia has the largest product range in locally assembled passenger cars and commercial vehicles in the ASEAN region. Other niche and imported models DaimlerChrysler Malaysia offers are the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, M-Class, CLK, SLK, SL, C-Class Sport Coupe, Maybach, and smart. The established retail network for Mercedes-Benz consists of 30 points of sales and after sales representation nationwide.  The dedicated Mercedes-Benz dealers have committed RM120 million to upgrade and introduce a new era of Mercedes-Benz retail experience with 17 Autohaus to be ready in the very near future.  Currently, 13 Autohaus is already in operations. Mercedes-Benz continues to lead the competitive luxury passenger car segment in Malaysia with a revenue growth of 33% in 2005.

DaimlerChrysler Malaysia is also the first in Asia to enjoy the synergies of combining the strengths of Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi Fuso commercial vehicles to offer our customers a full range of commercial vehicles from light to heavy duty trucks; and a stronger sales & after sales network consisting of more than 40 dealerships. DaimlerChrysler Malaysia’s effort to continue serving the varied mobility needs of our customers instigated the introduction of the smart brand, which was successfully launched in Malaysia in 2004 with six pioneer dealerships.
